Diamond IT's 2019 Cybersecurity Breakfast Event was designed to bring like-minded individuals in our Industry together, to talk about cybersecurity and collaborate and talk about ideas on what challenges they have and how they might be handling those challenges.
Cybersecurity is a major risk and a major challenge for organisations in the region. So our team are trying to improve awareness and not just that it's a technology issue, but also that it's really a training education issue. It's also really important to have policies. So we're here to really educate people in what they need to look out for and how they can best protect themselves.
Our keynote speaker, Prof. Alana Maurushat, Professor of Cybersecurity and Behaviour, from Western Sydney University, spoke about something really simple and that is having cyber insurance. So one of the real key takeaways is it's very difficult, almost impossible to keep people out of the network. Organisations really need to be really well prepared and protected to mitigate risk if something does occur.
