Meet Dean CookDiamond IT actively recruits and keeps the best IT brains in the market. Our staff are recognised industry leaders, innovators and all round impressive people who have great stories to share.

We'd like you to meet one of our Business Technology Managers, Dean Cook.

Tell us a bit about your role as a Business Technology Manager at Diamond IT?

My role at Diamond IT is to work with our customers to understand their strategic objectives and co-develop a technology roadmap that is right for their business.

I act as a trusted adviser to ensure Diamond IT delivers quality service and outcomes to our customers while helping them improve productivity, revenue, innovation, and risk mitigation objectives through technology-enabled change.

Why did you choose a career in technology?

Growing up I always had a fascination with computers and how they worked. Today, I enjoy the speed at which technology is evolving. There's always something new to learn and new software that can really help businesses improve the way they work.

Tell us a bit about your background?

My IT career spans more than 25 years of helping businesses succeed by delivering a vast array of technology solutions.

I have been fortunate enough to work with some of the most recognisable brands in Australia, across a diverse range of industries including non-profit, aged care, disability services, financial services, engineering, education, legal and accounting.

What’s your favourite piece of technology?

It has to be the smartphone. The evolution of these devices coupled with app development has revolutionised the way we work and the way we live.

Microsoft technologies such as PowerApps (a suite of apps, services, and connectors, as well as a data platform, that provides a rapid development environment to build custom apps for your business needs) have allowed businesses to access timely and accurate information at the touch of a button on smartphones - it's amazing to think where these platforms will be able to take us in the near future.

When you’re not at work, where would we find you?

When I'm not spending time with my family, you will either find me on the football field or at the beach. I love coaching and surfing.
