We'd like you to meet our newest member of this growing team, Junior Software Developer - Andrea Ralletti.
What is your role at Diamond IT?
I'm a Junior Software Developer within the Software Development team at Diamond IT. I provide assistance in designing, developing and delivering efficient solutions that meet business requirements and improve user experience.
Why did you choose a career in technology?
I was lucky enough to receive my father's old computer when I was a kid. At that point in time, I wasn't really thinking 'career', but I had the opportunity to appreciate and understand what technology brings into our lives. As I grew older, I observed how technology became more and more a part of our day-to-day lives.
Consequentially, I often perceive technology as that one thing that positively improves who we are and has the means to change humanity for the better.
Although, I'm concerned that it also has the potential to lead us in the wrong direction.
This is what brought me to start a career in Technology; I believe that understanding how technology works is a responsibility for all.
And to be honest, studying doesn't feel like studying when you study something you love.
Tell us a bit about your background?
I was born in Italy in a small town called Bologna that people would only remember if they ate there. Bologna is in fact mostly known for its flavoursome Tortellini.
After high school, I felt this exciting feeling of adventure and I decided to come to Australia and continue my studies in IT, where I completed a Certificate 3 in Information Technology and a Diploma of Digital Media Technologies at the Australian College of Business Intelligence, and a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology at Western Sydney University.
Following the completion of my qualifications, and a sizable number of holidays, I was ready to re-enter the workforce and improve my skills.
What’s your favourite piece of technology?
This is a million-dollar question really. I find myself interested in so many different areas, from GreenTech to the upcoming Web 3.0.
Now, I am quite fascinated by the progress and innovations related to Augmented Reality, as I believe this to be the next big step, in regard to our day-to-day lives.
When you’re not at work, where would we find you?
It really depends on the weather! I usually go for a swim at the beach. But when I can't, I normally organise something with my friends indoors.
