We'd like you to meet our newest team member, Byron Mahoney, who recently joined our team as a Tier 1 Support Analyst.
Tell us a bit about your role as Tier 1 Support Analyst at Diamond IT?
I assist people in their technical issues, provide answers to their questions and guide people in learning best practices while using technology.
Tell us a bit about your background?
I’ve been a computer nerd for as long as I can remember, since the days of DOS (disk operating systems). Having done labouring jobs after leaving school, I finally got myself to TAFE to learn the more practical skills for the IT business. Having completed that, I worked for myself until I landed an opportunity in Sydney. After working in IT in Sydney for a number of years, I missed the rural lifestyle of the Hunter Valley and moved back, and found myself at Diamond IT.
Why did you choose a career with Diamond IT?
Because I honestly couldn’t see myself doing anything else that would be as engaging and challenging as IT!
What is your favourite piece of technology?
Five and a quarter inch floppy discs. I have lots of fond memories using them as hand fans in summer sitting in front of my first home PC. More recently, the engineering (that’s been made public) of the F-35’s stationed at Willamtown RAAF base is absolutely amazing.
When you’re not at work, where would we find you?
BBQing and/or camping with the family. Hanging out with mates playing Battletech, Warhammer 40,000 or pub chess. Studying IT in my den.
