We'd like you to meet our newest member of the Presales Support team – Leon Austin.
What is your role at Diamond IT?
My role as presales support means I’m working closely with the Business Technology Managers to ensure our customers' needs are being met. My core focus is making sure our customers get the best outcomes from their technology. As part of the sales team, I’ll be in touch with our customers around quotes, reporting and mobile solutions amongst a range of other things.
I’m really looking forward to connecting with our wider customer base and getting to know their businesses over the coming weeks.
Why did you choose a career in technology?
I’ve always had a general interest in all things technology and have previously tried to get into the industry. When I saw the role advertised with Diamond IT I jumped at the opportunity to step into a role where I would be supported to further my development and launch my career within the IT industry.
I also would also really like to own a Tesla, which seems to be a common theme within the technology industry, so my new role supports that goal. 😉
Tell us a bit about your background?
Prior to Diamond IT, I worked for the Government Sector in a customer service role, and prior to that, I worked in a sales position in Real Estate.
I enjoyed my time in Real Estate and that’s where I got my first exposure to IT. Working for a small business allowed me to gain experience as a systems administrator, and I was responsible for the digital transformation within the business. This involved the selection and implementation of new CRM, property management and Trust accounting software. I also was responsible for implementing Gsuite so the business could work remotely, which is a project I really enjoyed.
What’s your favourite piece of technology?
This is a tough question. For me, I would have to say Google or the Internet in general. It's something I use all day every day and I really take the access we have to information these days for granted.
I’ve also got to mention my Drone here – something I have really gotten into over the last few years. Drones allow anyone to be able to experience a birds-eye view perspective for photography and videography, something I could only imagine until I bought a drone.
When you’re not at work, where would we find you?
Probably sitting in some restaurant or café – either in the morning for eggs benedict and coffee, or sushi or Italian for dinner.
Apart from that I enjoy the odd bushwalk or dabble in photography (either stills or more recently via drone).
